Surfers
traveled from all over the world to show their skills.
The list ofsurfers that competed at Israel, Brazil and
all over Costa Rical. The waves were
super fun throughout the whole contest.
It was consistent and about head high for entire event.
The contest was held at a surf
spot in front of our Hotel.
Everybody
had their little gigs going on, but my favorite was
the local crew. They were nestled in the shade under
these big trees just relaxing. They looked so content
just chillin' on the beach, like they didn't have a
care in the world.

I
was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it
was. Every time I go to a surf contest
I get bored and want to leave after
watching just one heat. That was not the case
at this contest , I even found
myself getting a little riled up. The vibe on
the beach was as good, if not better than the
vibe in the water.
There groups of people all over the beach, enjoying
the sun and sand. There were a few groups of girls,
a lot of families, little kids running around,
and of course surfers everywhere. This was quite
possibly one of the most entertaining surfing
events since we started. The waves were not absolutly
perfect, but the surfers were ripping and the
crowd was ragging.

Each
New Years Eve night after the sunset we
hold a big party at the Hotel. The pool
bar was rockin' with the girls from Luz de Vida.
All the competitors, crew, and spectators from
the surf contest came out to dance, drink and
talk about the day's happenings and to make plans
for the New Year.

The
dance floor rocked steady with a crazy mix of
music from French, Italian, Israeli, Costarican
and American DJs. The sun came up on January
1st, 2005 when Luz de Vida's own Yoga Instructor,
Joran took over the decks. All guests were stoked
when the pool party sound system went full blast.

It
was cool to see all the people who were watching
the sunrise after six hours of dancing. And
after that a bunch of us went surf the first
session of the year. Until next year!
